Almost closing your eyes also works to see Marilyn.

Indeed. And I see someone who looks roughly like her, but not really her. Maybe I just don't know her face well enough though.

I see Einstein after he lost a fight with a bottle of talc.

I'm shortsighted. It looks like Einstein at normal distance, but more like Marilyn if I hold the phone as close as I can than if I look at it from far away.

When I look really close, I still see Einstein.
Squinting (as in crossing one's eyes, not closing them) works pretty well to see Monroe for me.

Saw five boars and two deers on the road tonight. It would have been more than average a few years ago, but it's exceptional given current standards. In fact, I hadn't seen a boar in quite a while, which I have no good explanation for.

Mighty rain storm here. It hadn't rained in a while, after months of seemingly non-stop rain.

A bit of wind too, but not nearly enough. Where are my autumn wind storms?!

Indeed! It is a thing of beauty. I had to drive a bit, and yeah, it's slippery alright and I couldn't see much most of the time. It hadn't happened in a long time.

I may have asked this before, because it's the sort of thing I forget, but how is Leffe pronounced in francophone Belgium, given that it's a Dutch name? Or France, for that matter, but I don't know if they are in the habit of importing it there.

It's among the 6-7 brands you can find in most French supermarkets. It also happens to be my go-to beer when I have to bring something to a party, together with Grimbergen. I'm rather unimaginative when it comes to bringing food/drinks, so beer is the easy way out considering the kind of friends I have, and Leffe/Grim are an okay compromise between quality and price for most people.
We pronounce it /lɛf/ here. I'm not sure I've ever heard it pronounced by a Belgian person.

I have ordered my Christmas present to me. (Sounds a bit Mr Bean, but there you go.) I bought the first four volumes of the Cambridge Ancient History (Vol.s 1 & 2, Parts 1 & 2), plus the book of plates that goes with them. Maybe Santa can arrange for me the time to read them, because I'd dearly love to.
