Is it vaguely humanoid?

Yes. Maybe remove "vaguely", but I guess that's subjective.

I'm tempted to say probably not but that's conjecture.

Actually I guess it isn't all that unlikely that the character could have been invented before 1850. I really don't know.

Are there people who are known to believe in the reality of this character?

Fictional humanoid who's not the sole member of its kind, whose date of creation or creator(s) aren't known. Not a god or an angel. Maybe its mere humanoidness doesn't preclude its having a recognizable sex: is the character a male? I'm sure there are throngs of Belgian singers, but I've just looked at a list of Belgian best-selling musical artists (not just singers) since 1940, and there are only three that I think the average anglophone would have heard of: Brel, Plastic Bertrand and Django Reinhardt. Plastic Bertrand is alive (and didn't actually sing), and Reinhardt wasn't a vocalist. I'd add Stromae to the list, especially if the anglophones in question are from the UK. By the way, I've seen L'Emmerdeur. It's part of the classic series of movies by director Francis Veber featuring the beloved character François Pignon, which Brel plays in this movie. I don't remember much of it though, since I saw it a while ago. From the excerpts I've seen of it since then, Brel didn't strike me as a great actor, which is disappointing considering one of the things he's most known for is his talent as an actor/interpret when performing his songs live.

We have been told that the character isn't real, but that there are people who believe in this character. In previous games, characters only attested in myths or legends or religious traditions generally get a 'probably not' or 'who knows?' This sounds more definite.
So are the people who believe in the existence of this character children? I'm thinking tooth fairy or Santa Claus. The latter, deriving from the maybe historical St Nicholas, doesn't really fit, although you could argue the case.
