I suppose they wouldn't do chess quotes.

Chess quotes? People make all sorts of requests, and I'm guessing whoever is behind QI picks the ones that are in general usage and constantly attributed to different people without any evidence. Something like the one about chess being an ocean from which a gnat, or whatever, might drink and in which an elephant can bathe might be worth looking at, though I suspect the origin's lost in the mists of time. The one about always sacrificing the pieces of one's opponent might be too obscure.

Also, as you don't like being a Custos Linguae, did you want a particular other title rather than Neophyte? I can give you one based on your post count, as I only set the limits so high for the next step to avoid having to think of anything.

And now I realize there's no way to tell the difference between H as "have" and H as "hadn't" :/

The one about always sacrificing the pieces of one's opponent might be too obscure. I thought that one was a attributed to Tal, but it might sound a bit too romantic for that. I don't know. He had a similar quotte saying you need to lead your opponent into a deep forest where 2+2 doesn't equal five anymore. And he once said he had thought about pulling a hippopotamus out of a river. The other one seems to more of a general saying that everyone can think up randomly. I don't think there's much glory to be had for being the primus inventor of that one. I just changed that for testing purposes. And because I wanted to become a dabbler.
