That should cover it, really, but it never does, so:
2, Don't break the law. If you want to trade in contraband, libel living people or foment revolution, kindly do it somewhere else.
3, Don't break ProBoards rules. So no porn or posting personal details of other people.
4. There will be a need for more rules at some point, won't there? So watch this space.

OK, visitor. You've found your way here. So what sort of a board is this?
We are a LATIN forum, and indeed everything else. The Latin language, to borrow a metaphor from an unrelated pursuit, is a river from which a gnat may drink and in which an elephant may bathe. Or maybe the other way round.
So even if you don't know a word of Latin, but think it's something that sounds like it might merit further research, you're in the right place. Perhaps you studied it once, and gave it up, for whatever reason. Perhaps you never had the chance to learn it in an educational environment. Perhaps you want to read or discuss literature from ancient Rome, or early Christian fathers, or parish records, or indeed anything else. You may wish to compose symbolic poems in Latin about the Thirty Years' War. Latin is what we're here for, however we may digress, so that's all very welcome.
We like evidence. Say whatever you like, within the strictures of the law and ProBoards rules, but be prepared to back it up with evidence if you're challenged.
We discourage mindless abuse, because it's dull. For that matter, mindless anything is dull. But if someone says something you don't like, or calls you something you don't like -- again, with regard to the law and ProBoards rules -- that's life. If you want to respond to it, do so. If you don't want to respond to it, don't. If you don't want to see what they've said, put them on Ignore. If only real life were that simple.
