I thought of doing it that this morning, but then I remembered Movegate, and knew you'd probably do it yourself anyway. Besides, I was tired after work.
Probably a good thing, as I also put on my bets this morning. Two horses in a race, one at a big price, one the eventual favourite. I expected to make a small profit on the cash out value as the price contracted. But they didn't offer one, so I just cashed it out for what it was worth.
The short-priced horse one, and the one I cashed out on came second -- not only had I missed out on a place dividend, but had I done the forecast with both, it would have been worth a fair bit. But I had the winner, right? Wrong! Because it was late for me, I had ticked the box for the wrong horse.

But I had the winner, right? Wrong! Because it was late for me, I had ticked the box for the wrong horse. Aw, but also a bit of a lol.

Yesterday I heard the following in a series I'm watching:
"Who? This guy? He's as stable as a three-legged chair!"
What's funny is that three-legged chairs are the most stable among n-legged chairs. Well, at least in the sense that they can't wobble, but as a general rule, they can tip over more easily than four-legged chairs.
This stability is why tripods are the way they are. Even on rough terrain, it will be stable. That's because any set of three points in space (that aren't the same and aren't colinear/aligned) defines a plane: no matter where you place your three-legged piece of furniture, its three legs will touch ground, unless you're on the edge of a precipice for instance. The same isn't true of four-legged pieces of furniture.
Of course he meant "he's a stable as a four-legged chair that lost one of its legs", and such chairs indeed tend to be pretty unstable due to the shape and weight of their seats and the arrangement of the remaining legs (an equilateral triangle is more stable than a right triangle), but it titillated my appreciation for three-legged furniture.

One of my favourite ways of making myself unpopular is to ask people what they would do if they had a wobbly four-legged chair with one leg shorter than the others. Most say they'd put something under the shorter leg, or maybe saw the other legs to match. When asked what they'd do with a wobbly three-legged stool with a short leg, they generally say the same thing. Although the best answer I got was 'I'd see a psychiatrist'.

The weather's confused. It was something like 25° today.

Just a few minutes ago I was walking outside with nothing on top of my T-shirt. Granted, it would be more impressive coming from a normally thermoregulated person, but still.

I usually wear leggings or tights under my trousers in cold weather. I started doing this probably around the beginning of October, but I didn't have to do so today. Which is not only warmish but humid.

Just passing through. Had to break my holiday to do my annual tax return. Hope you are all well, hale and happy!

Good to see you, though the reason of your visit is probably less nice for you than your visit is for us.

Hope you're back soon. Are tax returns submitted around now in Ireland? Everywhere else I've been it's been in the spring. I don't imagine it's much fun, whatever the season.

Everywhere else I've been it's been in the spring. In France as well. Although tax returns are a thing of the past for many of us (but not all I think), as the process is largely automated now.

I bought some plant-based cream cheese, because I'll try anything once, it was on sale, and I realised I was condemning vegan cheese more because pretty much everyone says it's crap than from actual experience.
It wasn't really any worse than dairy cream cheese. Probably because that's not a high bar.

There's excellent vegan cheese out there. And not just the kind of cheese you can top pizzas with: I mean actual fromage de table as we say, i.e. room temperature cheese you can eat as is or more usually on a slice of bread. But good vegan cheese is hard to find in supermarkets (as opposed to vegan-oriented stores in big cities), and it's expensive. At least it was when I was vegan.
