I saw a video on YT about nose hair in older men, but I can't remember why it gets hairier as we age. A couple of times I have sneezed out a long, pure white nose hair. They look like some sort of freak/mutant.

I hadn't thought about ear hair going grey until now. I have idly wondered why at least some men have so much more of it than women, and what evolutionary purpose is served by it increasing with age, but not for a long time. I wonder the same about body hair. I know its presence and density are governed my male hormones but that doesn't really answer the question.

I've always found hair strange. At what particular point in human evolution would it have been advantageous not to be covered in hair, as our ancestors presumably were? If some people were born hairless by mutation, like Sphynx cats, you'd expect them to be at a disadvantage; the cats wouldn't exist as a breed without humans deliberately seeking out other mutants for them to have litters with. Or was there a gradual progression to less and less hair, driven by personal preference for those less hirsute?
And the odd places where hair remains. Yes, they're controlled by hormones, but testosterone is odd, causing facial hair to grow and head hair to succumb to male pattern baldness. The body should really make up its mind as to whether it wants hair around the top or not.

Do you have Freemen of the Land types on the continent? Weird libertarian nutters who claim that if you invoke some obscure piece of legislation or magic formula, you're exempt from ordinary laws. The fact that they don't actually win court cases doesn't deter them.

The fact that they don't actually win court cases doesn't deter them. Oh yes we have them. Their catchphrase is "I haven't contracted" (not sure it's normal English, but I mean it in more or less in the sense of "I haven't signed a contract/agreed to that"). A few of them have filmed themselves interacting with the police for instance, refusing to comply with what they were told because they never contracted with the "l'entreprise France" (the company of France) and as such weren't subject to French law. I saw a long news report on them. Apparently it's a semi-organized movement with its headquarters located in Scotland IIRC. They even issue ID cards of sorts.

There's a seven-legged spider in my bathroom (by which I mean the room where you can actually take baths).

In a blast from the past, I got an email notification from The Other Place regarding a new post in a thread I was watching. I thought I had unwatched all my threads shortly after my departure. Well, I suppose a TerryS. sighting will give someone something to talk about for a short while.

It's annoying that the American elections are held today. I would have liked to follow them in real time.
It's increasingly getting to look like a coin toss, but I'll go with Harris. She's bad, but he's worse, and maybe the American people has noticed to it. Then again, they're Americans, so who knows.

I really don't know what to make of this election. I know that there will be no winners (plenty freeloaders, however) either way. It's just a question of which theatre each potential president would choose to kick off Armageddon. Whoever wins, we're likely to find ourselves in a kiss-your-arse-goodbye-before-you-die situation sooner or later.

That reminds me. Forgot to buy a lottery ticket tonight. Bugger. Guess I won't be emigrating to New Zealand next week after all.
