I'm eager to find out how many countries witnessed both a left-wing and a right-wing dictatorship ... does anyone know? I don't know if anyone knows, as opposed to "thinks", since everybody would have to agree on what the political left and right are, on the criteria for labeling a given regime as either left-wing or right-wing (as opposed to a blend of both, or to utter ideological nonsense, for instance), and on the definition of dictatorship, not to mention the cases where the events predate the invention of those terms and the possible anachronisms this could lead to. True ... well, Germany went through a right-wing and a left-wing dictatorship, and both times they understood themselves as a dictatorship and as right and left respectively. I was wondering if there was any other country that could be compared to that. It's just very hard to find decent questions.

Germany went through a right-wing and a left-wing dictatorship "But weren't the Nazis Socialists???" Granted, there probably aren't many scholars who would say that, but I assume a few of them do. It's just very hard to find decent questions. I've had trouble finding info on the net so many times that I should be able to distill the hard-to-put-into-a-Google-query quintessence from it, but it's hard.
I don't know how to tackle your question, but if no one finds the/an answer, I could try to think of a new question (not that I have any idea for now).

I go by their own admissions. Extremist movements on both sides overlap in a lot of characteristics. Ultimately, the Nazis felt devoted to nationalism while the socialists felt devoted to internationalism. It's just very hard to find decent questions. [/quote] It wasn't supposed to be a question. I was just wondering if I could construct one out of that thought. If you can think of a question that is hard to answer even by using google, go fo it.

Really can't think of anything. Surely there must be some trick that would help in formulating such questions. Some kind of treasure hunt would be fun, where the guessers would have to visit preferably super obscure sites that link to other obscure sites, with riddles to solve along the way. But that would probably be hard to come by using only non-game-related sites that already exist. Other ideas I've had hinge on facts presumably little known outside of France, but it isn't easy to find a good question along those lines either. Ultimately, the Nazis felt devoted to nationalism while the socialists felt devoted to internationalism. Macron got "interviewed" by kids during his (second?) presidential campaign, and when asked what "leftwing" and "rightwing" meant, he said something like "what defines the right is its attachment to order, while the left primarily cares about equality". I thought the answer had its merits, even though it's not too hard to show where it breaks down.

I wonder how hard this question is to figure out or if it's commonly known:
Who is the oldest person ever to have been issued a passport?

I wonder how hard this question is to figure out or if it's commonly known: Who is the oldest person ever to have been issued a passport? The first idea that came to mind is WW veterans from a country that are invited to another country for ceremonies. Some of them are in wheelchairs for instance, and probably wouldn't have travelled under normal circumstances. I wonder though if they need a passport or if being invited formally by a government precludes the need for it.

In another chat, somebody knew the answer immediately :/

Oooooh, if you didn't mean "person" in the usual sense of the word, something just came back to mind: a mummy. I'm pretty sure one got issued a passport for some exposition abroad.

What links the following dates: the 5th of January; the 17th of May; the 12th of July; the 8th of November?

I thought about going that route, but there must be a better way... By the way, when I saw July 12th, I thought that it had something to do with Belgium... Their National Day maybe? But then remembered it was your birthday. Not gonna lie, I then checked the profiles of other forum members in the hope of finding their birthdays.

I did the same thing, except that I didn't confuse my birthday with Belgium's National Day.
