Even when I go for my daily walk this is blasting away in my head on repeat. Who needs an iPod?

When I tried to insert this as a link, the link simply opened another window with the same post. I ended up just posting the bare URL and the above happened. To save consuming the forum's bandwhatsitwherewithal maybe a mod could please fix it, amabo te?

Don't worry, you've done the right thing. It looks like it's there, but it's really somewhere else, so it doesn't count.

I once had this one stuck in my head for a couple of days:
I hate this song with all my heart, and always did, so that was most regrettable.

I can't say I was familiar with that song, although the internet tells me that everyone in France knows it, and it's popular in the Netherlands as well.
I'm still too much in awe, or maybe shock, to frame a coherent response. There is such a thing as so bad it's good.
In which spirit:
A problem shared is a problem multiplied.

Unfortunately for me, Sardou's music lies in the valley just after the "so bad it's good" hilltop. Still, I want to congratulate for your valiant effort; that song is indeed Bad.

This has been playing in my head on and off since yesterday, some of you will know why.

Speaking of nursery rhymes, it occurred to me the other day that while most French varieties have lost word-final E's in the spoken language, there's at least one notable case where everyone pronounces them without really thinking too much about it: Frère Jacques

It makes sense that nursery rhymes should be a special kind of time machine. Or any kind of metered writing in general, but nursery rhymes have the advantage of both being widely know, and old.

Michel is impressively consistent in terms of the quality of his songs, too. He's one of the very few immensely popular French singers whose success I never quite understood.

By the way, he first wanted this song to be about Scotland, but since neither he nor his author knew anything about that country, they chose another one they knew nothing about instead.
