Would the works that this character features in be generally classified as children's literature?

No. Although some of the characters believe some of the events to be supernatural, and this character may be one of them, I'm not sure.

So far I don't have the shadow of a clue who this might be, but I'll keep asking random questions.
Does the sea feature prominently in the story (or in at least one of the works)?

I can't seem to think of a character that appears both in a novel and in a short story, but it could be that I'm unaware of either the novel or the short story (or both, for that matter).

it could be that I'm unaware of either the novel or the short story ( or both, for that matter). It isn't the case. Also, you're still assuming something that's not true. Not hugely important I think, but it could be.

Is this character married (at any point in the story—or "stories", but for simplicity's sake I'm regarding multiple works as forming one composite story, so I'll just keep saying "story" from now on, and you'll know what I mean)?

Is this character married Yes. at any point in the story—or "stories", but for simplicity's sake I'm regarding multiple works as forming one composite story, so I'll just keep saying "story" from now on, and you'll know what I mean Okay! Although there's something ambiguous about speaking of "the story". Like, a story is usually set at a particular point in time, so if someone in the story mentions in passing something that happened prior to that, do you consider it part of "the story" or not?

This is getting complicated. If I follow the logic of what I said here: Is he a child at any point of the story? No, although there might be flashbacks or reminiscences. I almost added a note to say those wouldn't count. I would have to say "no", but it seems to me there could be cases that would feel different somehow.
